I only spent two nights there but the boat rides and the walk we made were truly amazing. I learned that not every brown lump is an Orang Utan and not every branch or leaf is a bird. The animals are really hard to spot. I don't want to know how many eyes were staring at us and stayed hidden in the forest.
Apart from the Orangs I got to see crocodiles, otters, snakes, hornbills in all different sizes, eagles, king fishers, plenty of other birds and not to forget macaques and of course the funny looking Proboscis monkey.
To get a proper close-up look at the Orang Utans I went back to Sepilok to visit the Orang Utan Rehabilitation centre
Apart from the wildlife there is not much else in Sepilok you can do. The village consists mainly of lodges and there is no town centre. But our lodge had this great Jacuzzi and within the boiling hours during midday it's just fantastic.
Being in Borneo I keep hearing and reading about activities and sights and there's a long list with stuff to do. What I've seen so far was just scratching the surface. I can already say that this is not the last time I'm in Borneo. The only downfall I've seen here that most of the rainforest was chopped down to make way for palm oil plantations. One can only hope that Malaysia is not going to sell the rest of Borneo for more profit.
