so now i am in the capital of chile, santiago. i would not have imagined that the andes are that close to santiago, amazing. there were a lot of people in the metro so i missed my stop but was able to advance halfway to the exit, so i could get out at the next stop. the streets however are very quiet today (it is saturday). so right now i ll pay a visit to the center of santiago to see what is really going on. ...it's always better in the center, a lot of performers are trying to gain some money doing some breakdance, beatles imitations (looks really funny), clowning performances, folkloric singing and dancing and illegal gambling (and damn i would have won a couple of times, next time im gonna go for it, since illegal gambling is my second name ;-). so there is a lot of action in the center and you really forget about time.

the other attractions are the two cerros: cerro santa lucia and cerro san christobal from which you have a relly great view of the city and the andes. however i have to go on without my beloved camera and even worse without the pictures i have taken so far, somehow it just didn't come back with me from the cerros.

bought a ticket to puerto varas for tomorrow night so i still have one day left in santiago on monday. it has been a short time that i have been in santiago (3 days) but i think i have seen everthing that is worth seeing, if you really wanted to get to know the city and its inhabitants you would have to stay at least for a month i think, but this is the same with every place.
