Bonsoir mes amis!
First, thanks for all the emails/postings. It's so great to hear from everyone, and I feel popular when I open my site and have new comments! Today was a GREAT day in France. The Dijon group went on a little daytrip to Beaune, a small town south of Dijon. We started off at a really cool place-- Hotel Dieu, a HUGE medeival hospital. It's pretty cool that it has been so well preserved! Also, it has a pretty famous paiting by Van der Weyden (spelling?) Then we visited the Notre Dame de Beaune, which is also very pretty, had lunch, and went to a wine cellar (aka les caves) to take a tour and do some sampling. For the first time all week, the sun peeked out and it was not too cold! The wine cellar was pretty interesting but I still hate wine...I think that one taste gave me a bad headache! Lunch was especially fun...I went with a group of 8 other girls, and I had my first official croque-monsieur. It was soooooo much better than the glorified grilled cheese that I make at home. For dessert, (and one ALWAYS has dessert here!) I had a scoop of chocolate ice cream. YUM YUM!!
We returned to Dijon a little after 5 pm, and I am busily preparing for my trip to Lyon this weekend. I think it should be a pretty good time. Courtney and I have also set up a tentative travel schedule: Lyon (this weekend), Geneva (6/9), Strausbourg (6/16), and Brussels (6/23). If anyone has any suggestions of what I should be doing in those places, let me know!
Let's see here. Mom wanted a little more explanation of the co-ed shower thing. No, there is not one spout for us all to share!!! Actually, there isn't much too tell....there are two stalls with doors that lock...so there is no chance of me getting a peek at cute Mr. Austria, but I will try to bring him home for a certain J-town chica. ;) Also, I don't want to sterotype, but I haven't actually heard/seen anyone going into the showers since I've been here...so maybe that rumor about the French is true?? The only weird thing about the co-ed bathroom is that boys do not feel the need to shut the door when they use the restroom---GROSS! Also, I've noticed that people here don't really worry too much about washing hands...again, kinda gross.
I'm putting up new pictures...so enjoy! Miss you all!
