Anyway, on to the most interesting part of my trip to date. It all starts yesterday morning when I decide that itäs time to move on, given my limited amount of time. I checked out of the hostel, did some laundry, ate some pork (called vitamin P by the expats), dumplings, and cabbage... again (still good though)..
I get to the train station 2-3ish, find that the only one to Vienna is at 16:40, at the other train station. I go to other train station, I find out that, well, it's actually at 6:40, unless I want to pay another 600 crowns to pay for the zig zag into Slovakia. No, I'll just wait thanks. Leaving at 6:40 gives me plenty of time for the 4 hour trip, and an hour and change to grab a tram to the campground. Unless, of course, there's flood trouble anyway, and a re-route through slovakia, anyway (no fee for this one though). Well, trams stop at midnight. The next is at 4:40. No way I'm paying 25 euro for a taxi. Side note, the Austrian girl I talked to for about 5 hours on the train, who lives 10km away and whose parents were picking her up, did not offer me a ride, despite showing me to the tram stop only to see that, yes, it does stop at 12 like I said. Bye. Thanks.
I'm getting ahead of myself, though. So, after she leaves, I start to wander about the train station, see if there is any way to get to the campground (all hostels are booked by the way). It's mostly dark and almost completely abandoned except for some roma hanging out, occasionally having a shouting match and tug o war contest over a blanket
So, this dinky train station is abandoned, I walk outside to look into taxis. No taxis in site. I talk to a group of Texans who are in a similar situation. They offer me a beer. What? Oh, yeah, some random guys just gave them a bag full. That's just... completely normal. I ask a German about alternative ways to get to the airport. No luck. We notice people coming and going from the parking garage entrance looking type thing about 100m away. A group of them randomly invited us to a party... located... where they came from. Not bizarre at all. The German girl goes, knowing, like me, that there is nothing else to do but sit in the train station or somewhere similar. I ask an Austrian girl about transportation to campground, no, she doesn't know, but do I want to go to a party? No, not the same party. A different one. No, I think I'll pass thanks.
So, I'm out of plans. I have resigned to sitting in the train station until the next train early the next morning. Shockingly, I get very bored very fast, not to mention annoyance of the roma arguing with each other. I have no choice but to investigate the weird parking garage party.
I approach cautiously
So, itÄs about 4pm local time, I will try to make it another 4-5 hours, marking a massive personal record for time stayed up... not to mention number of crazy things happening involving german speakers in a single night.
hopefully I will get some pictures up right now... if not, then some time soon. look for the ones documenting the crazy abandoned building german party.
