Riva and the surrounding area would have to be one of the prettiest places I have ever been in the world.  You could easily take a picture every 30 sec whilst riding around.  Even better is the weather is nice, better than the Giro stage today that is down in the area that I rode on Sunday  - STILL RAINING.

I had a lovely dinner last night, so much great food.  It is quite different to Australia where there is the option with your accommodation to pay a bit extra (10 Euro) and a 4 course dinner is included, on the al-a-carte menu the mains (secondi) are about 14 euro each.  This option is called half-board, accommodation plus breakfast and dinner and works out to quite a saving.

After breakfast I put my bike together and headed out for a ride, no real plan just some food in my back pocket, a rain coat and a map.  Did about 10k in the valley then headed south and UP. I climbed a 1000m in 11k which is pretty standard here but a lot steeper than most stuff in Oz.  At the top, S. Giovanni was a Cafe and a lot of people sitting around having ridden up on mountain bikes.  The road I had ridden up is part of a loop for mountain bikes where they then head over to Lago di Tenno and back to Riva.  Even blokes at the cafe smoking Cigars during their 'exercise break'........ ah the fresh air.  The ride up was pretty steep, upto 18% again in spots but there were families riding up.  Well Mum or Dad was riding and the bambino was in the trolley in the back - I feel like such a Wuss!

So back down the bitumen road to Riva and now head north west, up again through Tenno, Lago di Tenno and to Capri, another 600m of climbing before turning around heading back to the hotel.  3hrs - 60k - 20km/h average - 1650m climbed (and descended).  All this riding just to make room for dinner!
