The highway traffic was congested but once you get off the highway and into the downtown area where the Alamo is located, it is actually not bad. I was sure that they would get you good for parking, but was surprised that it was only five dollars for the whole day.
The Alamo is a great place to visit history up close and see a lot of historical artifacts that of course they did not let you take pictures of. You can take as many pictures on the outside but not the artifacts on display on the inside
After leaving the Alamo, I crossed the street and started the River Walk entering through the Hyatt Hotel.
The River Walk is a 2 1/2 mile stretch of beautifully landscaped waterfront that features many hotels, restaurants, night clubs, bars, shopping centers and businesses. I not only walked the river walk but also took the boat tour that explains a lot of the history and the buildings surrounding the river. This was a fun place that someday I hope to return too and spend more time there.
