So far...... so good.

I left my town at 8:45 this morning, and drove about 45 minutes to Muskegon, where I caught the Lake Express Ferry that took me to Milwaukee. As the ferry headed into the open waters of Lake Michigan, I watched the shores of Michigan fade away, and reflected on the life that I had made there. Michigan brought me good times and bad times, The good times definately out way the bad times. If anyone ever asked me if I would do it all over, the answer would be "Yes, I would" The friendships I have made I will cherish forever. The very special people that made me part of their family, I hold closest to my heart.
But now it is time to start the new chapter in my life. I have no clue where the road will lead, but I know that wherever I go, I will begin again a new life that will be filled with new adventures and new friends.

The ferry ride was about three hours long which gave me time to read a few chapters of a book called " Travels with Charley " that was sent to me by a friend in Texas. ( Yes Phil, It came before I left.) The book is about a man who travels with his Dog Charley across America, seeing this country and meeting some very interesting people. Sort of what I am doing.............. but I can't talk to strangers......... my Mom told me not too.
Wisconsin is a very beautiful state and one that I have been too before. The Wisconsin Dells are really something to see.........didn't do it this trip ................. but have been there in the past.

Minnisota is just one corn field after another after another. I did stop in one town called was 93 degrees and no way did it feel like i was on Alaska. Then went into Lacrosse.............. did you know they don't play Lacross there? But they do have a brewery.......... hehe

I made it as far as Fairmont because I was just too tired to drive anymore. Had trouble with my computer so this is why this is being posted a day late.

I'm glad you got the book before you left. May you read it in good health and enjoy your journey as much as Steinbeck obviously enjoyed his. Keep us posted.

Freedom at Last
I know 'Travels with Charlie' is a best seller, and also many years old, however I believe the 'Travels with Gail' will be much more up to date and Spontaneous. Heck, I'm sure it will be a Best Seller when you have the time to edit it and finally sell it to the publishers lined up at your door. In the mean time, have a great trip and keep up with our daily updates, can't wait till you make it to Texas!!!!

Safe Journey!
Hey Gail...

Thanks for including me in your travel log! I've been wondering all summer what you've been up to. Does this mean - you've left...not to return? Or is this an adventure taking you to ??? I know there's an event happening on Saturday that will be difficult for you (it is for us as well - we never forget).

We'll keep following along. Be safe, God Bless.
