After spending two days of traveling, three flights, the largest 14 hours, we arrived safely in Hobart, Tasmania. Getting off of the plane we were greeted by a couple of fruit sniffing dogs, all of our wonderful host families, and a few others from the surrounding Rotary clubs. We had a great lunch at an ocean side restaurant, were most all of us enjoyed fish and chips.
After that we split up and went off to relax and rest, with our host families. Ruth, was my first host mother she has three grown children and her husband was out sailing for the month, so it was just she and I. We drove up to the top of Mount Wellington, which is the big mountain above Hobart. I did a bit of resting after that. The next day I enjoyed a great walk around the town. The rest of this leg of the trip was covered by Lisa and Jim in the other two blogs, check them out above.
My vocational days have been great we, Jim and I, have visited two National Parks Mount Fields, Hartz Pass, and an Air walk in the middle of the forest. Everyone was very informative and helpful, and we were able to get in a couple of bush walks in, hiking. I am learning quite a bit about what Jim does as a government planner for Park Service..
I survived/enjoyed my first beer ever at hotel in Hobart, Cascades locally made in Tasmania.
