So, there I am, teaching English in Beijing. The first two weeks have been very different from my previous lifestyle. I had to buy respectable clothes and shoes. I do enjoy working with my colleagues who are from the US, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singpaore, Kenya and the Philipines. What's more, I have an apartment that I share with my teacher colleague Diana and I have a routine again. The downside is that my routine way extends my official working hours of 9-5. Teaching English is a multitasked job - teacher, counselor, and entertainer. I have to learn the robs and hope that next term will go smoother.
Now, for those people interested in visiting beautiful Malaysia and meeting some wonderful people, check out my friends kite surfing offer. You can contact him directly and he will take care of you. Believe me, he is a wonderful guy and kite surfing teacher.
He is offering a monsoon kite holiday+homestay package for the months of January and February 2007, during the NE monsoon period here at US$890.00 per person + non kiting partner/spouse for a month's stay (Jan & Feb 2007).

beach size:
22km long, very wide on low tide facing the South China Sea, sandy bottom with no corals and no rock formation! safe but choppy in monsoon. Flat water conditions at river mouth area where the waves cannot go through.
other considerations:
the kiter can bring along a partner but use of gear will not be offered to the spouse/partner.
he will only need to bring his favorite size kite - one size will do for winds 10-15 knots (we will offer 8m kites on a sharing basis during strong winds of over 20 knots).
and a windsurf/kite surf competition: Monsoon Madness
It is limited to 3 couples (3 bookings a month) and for 2 months only at the peak of the windy season here. The beach is long and wide, making it safe for kiting. It is also sandy bottom without corals and we have no kite accidents - zero since the kiting started in 2004.
The Malaysian people are friendly and restaurants are within walking distant and good public transport system here. There are other attractions and activities here to check out! The community is spread between the wind surfers, kiters, wake boarders and skimmers and even kite-buggys can be found.
Let me know if you are keen and I will email you the pics in jpeg.
Cheers!
