My dad and I (Darren) drove to Big Sky, Montana to go flyfishing for Dad's retirement trip (and also to give Kristi a much-needed break from me).  We drove through Bozeman so I could drop off the Stroh's beer bounty for my friend Tom Starner who had graciously set us up with a room at the Summit at Big Sky Resort.  Many thanks, Tom!  Along the way, we also stopped at as many fly shops as possible to try to figure out what was working and not working with the trout.

We wade-fished the Gallatin River (where many portions of 'A River Runs Through It' were filmed) for two days and caught a total of nine rainbow trout (and fell in the river only once -- I won't say who).  We kept two fish each night to cook up in our room.  Good, beer and whatever else we could put together.

The third and final day of fishing, we hooked up with John Sayer, a former fishing guide and friend of Tom's, for a float fishing trip down the Yellowstone River.  It was a beautiful day and an awesome landscape but the fish just weren't biting.  We only caught two fish all day but it still a great day to be floating down the Yellowstone River valley and we both learned a lot about fishing from John.  That evening all three of us stopped off in Bozeman for dinner and a couple beers before Dad and I had to make the drive back to Colorado in the morning.
