With dad not being a keen walker, we opted for the "hop on hop off" bus to see the sights of Sydney.  Somewhat of a luxury for backpackers, but at least for now we are merely holiday makers.

The city has not changed much since the Olympics of 2000, but there seemed to be less people around.  Jules was probably right when she said that during the Olympics there would have been many tourists, so understandable that I would think it seems a bit empty.

But Sydney is still the same in many other aspects.  It's clean, neat, well organised and very laid back.  Lots of good public transport means you can go everywhere without hiring a car or paying too much.

Dad does think it is a bit expensive, but then what city is not when paying in rands? Ok, other than Bangkok which is cheap for everyone Bridge from the bus

!  We thought it was quite reasonable when compared to London, and in most cases, much cheaper.

So we climbed aboard the bus at martin place and set off on our 90 minute whiz round the city.

Powerhouse museum, star city casino, maritime museum, Chinese gardens, Imax theatre, the rocks, queen Victoria building, hard rock café, kings cross, Woolloomooloo bay, opera house, botanical gardens, parliament house and the aussie museum were all seen.

We walked through the rocks area, which is bohemian part of the city near the bridge and circular quay.  We ambled through the street market and then headed for circular quay and a ferry to manly bay.

Manly took about 40 minutes to reach via ferry.  We walked from the ferry station down the main boulevard towards the main beach.

Dad was looking for some fish and chips, and we found a good street café selling the Aussie specialty, barramundi.  Dad and I had the barramundi while Jules had the calamari (sharing both).  Very very good fish!

We sat at the beach and enjoyed the atmosphere for a while.  Being Sunday, there we lots of people on the island.  Dad enjoyed the harbour area.

Then we headed back and had pizza and salad for supper.
