Into the home stretch!
Entry 31 of 40 | show all | print this entry |
Leaving the mountain hidaway of La Faba we continued up further into the mist and soon reached the crossing into the province of Galicia. For Ant and I it always stood out as a mythical place and marked the final stint onto Santiago and outr ultimate goal. We decided to mark the occasion by walking a 36km day with Andrea and Lenny by our sides. Arriving in a town called Triacastella, we found the hostels full, a real concern now that were near the end with so many people along the route. We had no option but to continue walking to Samos where we again found places full. However, we got lucky, the huge monastery had an overflow room, not knowing what was in store, at 10pm we were herded upstairs into a room containing maybe 100 cubicled rooms, each with one bed, a chair, and cupboard and the most retro 70´s wallpaper you can imagine! A single room all to ourselves!
