With the sun shining, it was time to find another beach. We took a scenic route to be able to hit a few other spots that we wanted to stop at. The first of these was the Abbaye de Valmagne, just 10 minutes away. This Abbey was founded in 1139. Although most of its documents and all of its stained glass were destroyed in both the Hundred Years War and the French Revolution, the buildings themselves are very well preserved. The church can be booked out for weddings or conferences and they also hold concerts in it. I was impressed with the size of the wine casks that it held.

We did a quick trip through Bouzigues, to check out the oyster and mussel beds before heading between Sete and Agde, where there are kilometers of beaches. The Mediterranean water was cool but very pleasant; a nice blue and refreshing. The beach was great and since it was so long, it was not that crowded, in spite of the sweltering heat. It was a great day at the beach, relaxing and playing in the water. Of course, we came home with more than a few shells as souvenirs.
