We are home

We had great travelling weather between Knoxville, TN and Bangor, ME. We did see some snow along the road once we were in Pennsylvania but the highway was dry and the sun was shining though the temperatures were a bit lower than what we are used to. Besides stopping lunches and for the nights, the only stops we made were for shopping at Cabela's in East Hartford, and in Freeport and Bangor. While in Bangor, the weather forecast included snow and freezing rain for northern Maine and Fredericton so we drove from Bangor to Moncton and stayed ahead of the storm system. What was amazing was the number of live deer alongside the highway between Fredericton and Moncton. We easily saw 60 deer, just standing there, not reacting to the traffic at all. Our worst driving was along the Cobequid Pass. The fog was so thick we could see only a short distance ahead of us. It really was the worst driving conditions during our whole journey!

So now we are in Pictou for the summer. We’ll be visiting Laura, Will, and Amelia in Cold Lake for a couple weeks in May. Heather, Sergei and the girls are coming from New Zealand to visit us in July. Then we will be planning for the winter months in Yuma again.

Some statistics:

We travelled 12,622 km in StarII
We travelled an additional 4,308 km in our Fiesta
We also travelled 4,029 sea miles during the Mexico segment of our cruise and 9,292 km on the Hawaiian segment.

In the US:

Our least expensive gas was in Albuquerque, NM and in Oklahoma City, OK $2.96 per gallon.
Our most expensive gas was in Houlton, ME $3.82 per gallon.
