The temputure took a down turn. It dropped from 31C to 15C along with high winds.
Tuesday we just relaxed and went for a walk around the park.
Wednesday we took our bikes to the missions along the San Antonio River. The city is spending over $180
million expanding the hiking/biking paths. We drove our bikes for 23kms into
the city and back following the wide paved paths
park benches and parks. There are also information boards explaining about the
missions, other buildings, and the history along the river, very interesting.
At suppertime we joined our new neighbors next door for
drinks before we went out for supper. We had asked our tour bus driver the
other day where we could have a real Texas BBQ. He stated that we should go to
Texas Pride. So off we went to find the place, if we had not had our GPS we
would have driven by it. Texas Pride sits on a small knoll and looked to us
like a junk yard. We entered through an old single door and we were just blown
away with all the plaques and newspaper clippings on the walls about the place.
who did a show from here. When you get to the counter they give you a plastic
bin and then you tell them how much of four meats: ribs, brisket, pulled pork
and sausage you want along with your
choice of the hot and cold side orders. All your food goes into the plastic bin
then they give you sheets of butcher paper to use for plates. Nothing fancy
that’s for sure.
Karen and our friends really enjoyed the food as did I and
we were stuffed especially after eating the pecan cobbler. The whole building
was an old service station and it would be an American Pickers dream with all
the old things everywhere.
