Where I stayed
Fort Stockton Parkview RV Park
The temperature was a pleasant 14C when we went to bed so I didn't turn the furnace on, but through the night the temperature dipped to -4C. I was up at 0530 to turn it on when I realized how cold it was in Star.
We woke early today because we thought the time changed once we were in Texas, but we were wrong, it didn’t change for another 50km down the road. So we were on the road at 0800. I think that’s the earliest we have ever been able to get away.
We stopped at a large store that sells everything cowboy and Mexican related, but because of the time we had to wait until 0900 when they opened. Lots to see but in the end we walked out not buying anything
Karen started feeling sick yesterday, I think it is the result of our flu shots that we both received in Benson a couple of days ago. I’m fine, just the usual sore arm, but Karen is down for the count. She slept most of the way to Fort Stockton in her big reclining chair and went right to bed as soon as we arrived at the park.
The drive from El Paso to Fort Stockton is very boring anyway, the roads are as straight as can be and there is really nothing to see along the way, just flat open landscape with a few small mountains thrown in to break things up. Interstate 10 is super busy with trucks heading east until you hit the fork in the road heading to Dallas, then you loose 90% of the trucks.
The temperature in the park was 32C when we arrived so I put on the air conditioner so that Karen could sleep for awhile.
