We said goodbye to John and Bertha after breakfast today. They've been fantastic hosts and we really enjoyed our time with them. We’ll be spending about a month in Yuma, about an hour away from their El Centro home, so we may get together again soon. Otherwise, we won’t see them until they come to Pictou for the summer months.

We drove over the Orocopia Mountains, through the desert valley, and then the Chuckwalla Mountains to get to our stop for the night in Quartzsite, Arizona. We didn’t see many palm trees along our route, instead we saw cactus. Greg and I love the changing geography, you just never know what will be around the corner.

We decided to come up to Quartzsite because we had heard that it’s a snowbird destination. What a place. There really isn’t a town as such, just two main streets and campgrounds that look like parking lots lining the streets. During January and February there’s a huge flea market here and that attracts the RVers. Other than that, there really isn’t much to the town.

Tomorrow we’ll be travelling on to Yuma, to an RV resort that definitely doesn’t look like a parking lot.
