Flag of Cayman Islands  ,

On Friday I went to Alistair's work to meet Frank, Ali's boss whose apartment we are staying in.  He is a great guy, with a huge number of stories and knows all sorts of interesting people.  Ali took me up one of the highrise office buildings they are currently building which was interesting - not least the part where we walked up 6 flights of temporary internal stairs...HOT!

We enjoyed watching the opening ceremony although the Caymanian commentary wasn't much to write home about.  There's a lot of buzz here from the large Jamaican population about Usain Bolt so it was great to see him carry in their flag.

On Saturday Ali played tour guide and we did the same drive around the island that Richard and I had done a couple of weeks ago but this time with a great commentary. We enjoyed looking at some of the houses Frank Hall Homes (Alistair's work) have built, as well as some that are in progress.

One of the things we have noticed is the absence of OSH regulations at building sites. They are left open with tools, buckets of paint and rubbish everywhere and you can just walk in, up the makeshift stairs and look around partially completed rooms, even going out on to half finished balconies.  Love it!

Later in the afternoon I met Ali and Josh down at the nets for some batting practice and then we went for a swim sown at Smiths Cove where the water was too murky for sorkelling but we saw some enormous crabs.

In Cayman, there is no restriction on the sale or use of fireworks, so Ali and Josh picked up a big selection from the supermarket down the road and we had fun down at the beach setting them off.  There was a slight pause in proceedings half way through when 2 policemen turned up after having received a call about gunshots being fired on the beach.  They were very relaxed about it and realised immediately what was going on, but didn't go so far as to take Ali up on his offer for them to light some!

Today we went down to Dolphin Cove and had an amazing experience swimming with 2 gorgeous dolphins.  We got to touch them, be pulled along holding their fins and then fly through the water like superman when they pushed us along on the soles of our feet.  Check out the photos - words just can't do it justice!

After we got back to the apartment we had a good heavy downpour for an hour or so which didn't stop the kids swimming because it was still so warm, and then later in the afternoon we had a ball riding jetskis again - Michael took the controls of our one for a few runs and showed a definite inclination for speed!

Hard to believe we're heading in to our final few days here, we could easily maintain this lifestyle given the opportunity!
