Where I stayed
Final day in Puerto Iguaz˙... A lot happened since last night... Some bad, some good...Thank god!
I won't get into details, but at least everything went smoothly today... We changed plans last night concerning our accommodations: we decided upon a major upgrade and haven't regretted it since... I'm writing, again, from our free Internet access at a place called Hostel-Inn... Bliss... It's a nice escape from tourist trap town Puerto Iguaz˙. Seriously, this place has so little infrastructure it's mind boggling that this is actually a mostly tourist populated town... Ah well... At least we have our little oasis here about 10 minutes from the tourist trap of expensive crappy hostels. =)
Today, we left "early" after searching for a bank for about an hour only to get there and discover all the ATMs are out of service and there is a HUGE lineup inside..
Btw, a few interesting facts about Argentina:- VERY few people actually speak or understand English (our broken Spanish is healing rather nicely with all our experience),- Pasta and pizza is the Argentine fast food you can find almost anywhere,- Most actual Argentine food is a weird mix of Spanish, French and Italian food (croissants, pizza, pasta and related things),- The local people (regardless of age or sex) drink a special drink called MATE with special herbs in a special cup and straw and you can't ever buy the actually prepared drink anywhere... Which is rather annoying since EVERYONE is drinking it all day long and there are actual special filling stations everywhere for those who carry around the herb, thermos, cup and straw!!! We must convince a local to share this experience with us before we leave... It's 4 times more popular than coffee, but apparently very personal.
Till next time!
