Today we made the trip to Siena. We had an awesome tour guide. We started off by visiting the church of St. Catherine. It was interesting that when she died, her body parts were scattered all over Europe. I mean this literally. Her right thumb and skull were in the church in Siena. Other body parts are in other cities spread across Europe. After that we saw where the movie Quantum of Solace was filmed. I thought that was pretty cool because I loved that movie. Afterwards, we walked to the Duomo of Siena. That was beautiful of course. Lastly, we did what have loved to do throughout this entire trip which is SHOP! They had a lot of boutiques in this city and we also found a cosmetic store called Kiko! One of the many things I liked about Siena was the sense of community in this city. Also, in this city, they hang a black flag whenever someone dies and likewise when a baby is born, a pink or blue ribbon is hung from the flag. There are a host of different communities and they all compete against each other in their yearly horse race. Another scene of Quantum of Solace that was filmed in the town of Siena. It's just like Alabama and Auburn football in Alabama. The winner gets bragging rights for an entire year. The winning community also has a HUGE party to celebrate. However, something tells me that you don't have to win in order to party. The event itself seems big enough to residents to give them a reason to party.
