The very last night in Cyprus and I am having dinner at the Londa Hotel. I chose a nice seat at the beautiful terrace deck overlooking the swimming pool and the coast. The full moon shines above over the calm waters and it looks as if stars have fallen from the sky and are floating over the water. There is soft music, and the atmosphere is magic. There are so many waiters around to pamper every guest's demand.
The Londa Caprice Restaurant has an excellent reputation among Limassol locals and since it is Friday tonight –a long weekend for Cypriots, the hotel has many locals who are here for dinner. Some of them are here for the weekend and they come from Nicosia and others from Paphos
The first reason was that they love the high quality professional service they find here, and the excellent ingredients of the dishes. Another one told me that they can choose from a variety of gourmet dishes which have influences and styles from all over the world so each time they come they chose something different. There was another couple from Limassol this time who told me that they booked for 4 nights.
So, here I am enjoying this beautiful evening.
Of course, I am going to eat light as always, so for this reason I prefer to avoid anything that has to do with meat. I rely completely on the hands of Stelios, the Restaurant Manager who is working for the Londa ever since it opened. I tell him my preferences, and he promises that I will be happily surprised with what he is going to bring me. If I judge from the wine which I got first and which was excellent, then I expect the best
While enjoying my dinner I observe the group of friends sitting opposite me. They seem to be having a hell of a time, and at the same time I admire the fact that they talk quietly and they disturb no one even if they laugh. It is nice to respect the round area if others are sitting nearby.
There is this other young couple sitting closer than the others. They are completely speechless throughout the night. They have not even exchanged a word ever since they came and the lady smokes one cigarette after the other. She seems happy-go-lucky in her way, she is probably daydreaming and her attitude makes me think that she might even be enjoying it. Of course her companion does the same, and they both make me appreciate the fact that I am all alone this night. I prefer to be on my own than being in a situation like this. The only moment I hear them talk is when the bill comes and she insists to pay. Her friend does not let her, so she leaves for the restroom she says giving him the time to pay. How funny indeed! I wonder…Is this the way young couples enjoy themselves nowadays? The moment she leaves, the man makes a call, but when she hears her descending the stairs he stops the conversation and hides his cell phone in seconds.
Minutes later they leave.
I just think how differently people reacted some years back. No communication now, no romance, nothing. If I judge by appearance, this couple was supposed to have an enjoyable dinner out at this exceptional boutique hotel! Wow! I would prefer to stay indoors if my outing was like this.
Anyway, I did enjoy my exquisite gourmet dishes, and when Stelios asked to bring me a dessert I asked him for an asparagus salad and some more wine! He smiled, and left to fetch both.
