My stroll on the Sandy beach that stretches along the Louis Apollonia Beach Hotel

I want to describe Limassol to you and the three words I can think of are bustling, bright and busy.

It is the second largest city and the island's main port. The people of Limassol are renowned for their amusement and lively character that matches with the town's carefree holiday atmosphere. The city keeps hold of a fun-loving reputation and the best nightlife on the island. I really want very much to arrange and come when the Wine Festival begins the last week of August which lasts for 10 days. The wineries of the round area offer their free samples of their products, but I am not sure if this is possible this year!

The city of Limassol is also known for its great Carnival with masquerade parties, balls and grand parades. I remember when I used to live in Cyprus we would always come to Limassol to watch this parade. We got so excited when the people on the wagons threw out to us bars of chocolates.

Anyway I am going to spend 6 whole days in Limassol on my coming trip in June and I can post in there more details. I will have plenty of time to visit the castle of course that I missed on my previous trip but surely I will in June.

Instead I am here to get acquainted with the beautiful beach…..I am not interested at all in any kind of nightlife, but I can always arrange with friends and visit a couple of interesting clubs on my next trip as I need the information for my guides. Dining out with friends is something that I really enjoy, but I keep that for tomorrow.

Anyway, if you started wondering what I am up to right now….well I leave everything in my room, put on my sneakers and with my digital camera in hand I am out in the garden with the beautiful swimming pool. The first thing I really want to do is to have a glimpse of the coast and walk on the sandy beach. This is one of the reasons that I have booked here.

Indeed it is awesome! Instead of swimming I prefer to walk and explore the coast. I decide to take the right direction heading towards the centre of the city….but always keep walking on the beach.

I walk approximately 4 kms probably more and to be honest I want so much to go further away but I need to calculate the time back. I have an appointment to see the manager and have lunch together. I don’t want to keep the man waiting, and I need some time for a shower at least! I honestly feel sad that I have to return, but I promise myself to walk on the other side after lunch, or later on in the afternoon.

Lunch is a feast at the Apollonia hotel, but honestly speaking I prefer to nibble instead of having whole portions of different things.

Indeed after lunch I am out again walking all the way to the opposite direction for more exercise, and by the time I come back it is already late afternoon.

I have time for another shower and soon my Uncle picks me up from the hotel premises. I am visiting my dear Aunt and the good news is that I am to see my daughter and her whole family who are having a stop to greet our Aunt. She is expecting them any minute. I am so happy that I will see my 3 angels again this afternoon. Dining with relatives is a great feeling, and I am so thankful and happy to be here.

As I get to bed I make plans for tomorrow.

A very beautiful they still throw chocolates out of the vans? Gosh...perhaps I'll still get excited at this age. I just love chocolates. The Bird of Paradise plant is interesting and unique. Here in Malaysia, there is a real bird with the same name. Its a great pice of work Popi. Keep the photographs and entries flowing in as you travel.
