The beauty of Potamitissa in March

I take long walks in the countryside out here in the Troodos range.

It is March and the fruit trees in full blossom, feeling blessed to be out here away from the busy cities, fumes and noise.

I am told that there are wild orchids scattered in the banks of the narrow passage which I walk every day, and also wild violets by the river bank. Aki the manager of Ambelikos told me about the wild violets a month ago when I was here again, but I could not believe everything.

Only now that I see and smell them I do know that he was not exaggerating at all.

Each morning I put on my sneakers and I am out in the fields walking. I leave behind my cell phone, and the only thing I care for is walking. I do the same after my afternoon coffee a little before the sun set.  It's only the waters in the river gurgling and the singing of birds that I hear. Once in a while I might hear somebody in a distance in the village opposite from where I walk calling another person or the barking of a dog far away, but then it is silence and peace again.

Of course the village of Potamitissa is really small with no architecture on buildings, but this does not bother me at all. There are hardly 35 to 40 inhabitants. The beauty around is such that nothing else matters.  As I walk, different scents coming from orchards with fruit trees and bushes in blossom that mingle in the air and revive my soul, body and mind.

It’s nowhere else I would like to be…but here!

Each afternoon I like taking my camera and take pictures of the green pastures, the flowers, the river, the sky and sometimes the clouds.  Here is the real life out in the nature.  Oh yes…how blessed I am to be here!
