Leaving behind the Monastery of Mesa Potamos, we are heading towards Platres, one of the most popular destinations of Cyprus. Aki wants to take me to the Chocolate Workshop.
I can't remember the last time I was here but it is one of my favourite resorts.
I plan to spend some days in Platres on my coming trip in March so I won’t bother say much about it now.
At the Chocolate Workshop
So, we are here with the creator of these chocolate masterpieces, Mr
We have a warm welcome over a cup of hot chocolate drink at first, and then John tells us about his creations. We have the chance to taste some of his mouth watering chocolates and I can admit they are all unique. The chocolate workshop in Platres has been voted by the SNB media as one of the 10 must see attractions on the island, and I strongly support it. The chocolates here are of excellent quality and taste and it’s really hard to choose what to buy when you see the rich selection. John’s chocolates are enjoyed by many Heads of State, including the Queen of England and her family.
To be honest, I leave without buying even a single bar of chocolate today, and of course this is not polite ….. "John you have to forgive me" because in the past there was a time when I had become addictive to chocolates and I am scared that if I buy any I might easily return to that bad habit again.
However, I am returning ….
People can attend a chocolate course ….I can imagine it will be fun for sure, and it is something that I would not want to miss. He is telling us how he reveals his secrets of the chocolatier during the session, and teaching techniques that will help make chocolates at home. During this session John says that he introduces the art of hand tempering, and crafting on seasonal solid chocolate bars. The session includes a brief discussion on the subject of chocolate fillings and toppings, and those who follow it have the chance to create their own selection of luxury chocolates. The best of all is that all the chocolates one makes can be packed and taken home.
Visiting the Chocolate Workshop in a couple of weeks will be tempting, but at least I will check how disciplined I am!
