The trip from Paphos to Limassol is approximately an hour but I come off at the first stop so it is about a 50 minute drive for me. My friend is waiting for me at the bus station and drives me home.

Andry and her family used to live in Greece some years ago and we were like sisters back then. There was not a single day without seeing each other.  She and her husband are both high school teachers.

As always there is so much to catch up. I am telling them the news from the area they used to live in and they are asking about their acquaintances and friends, about life in Greece in general. I have to admit they have been lucky to have moved back then because they are now well off.

Tonight I am supposed to meet a dear classmate of mine back from the Academy. She comes to pick me at 8.30 sharp and because I tell her that I don't want to return home late she suggests we go to the taverna opposite my friends’ house. I have always wanted to come to this restaurant and I am glad that Toulla recommends it.  She has heard some good critics she says, so why not?

Well, from the moment we find a seat and give our order till the last minute we kiss goodbye we are laughing and teasing each other sharing memories like the days back in school, -like school girls…ha ha ha!  This is how we feel when we meet.   Unfortunately our other friend Lenia is in bed with flu these days, otherwise she would have surely been with us tonight with Achillea her husband. And then again Andy, Toulla’s husband who is an orthopedist could not make it tonight as I had given them a very short notice and he had a meeting that could not be missed. I am sure on another trip the 5 of us will meet and this won’t be long!

In the meantime, even though Andri tells me that I can get home any time I wish since they usually go to bed late, I feel that I have to return much earlier because I gather they should get an early sleep as they have to wake quite early to get to work.

The Next Day

My friends leave the house a little after 8:00 a.m however I am still in bed the time they live.  I get up much later and when Annezi sees me up she is up too. I have a shower and the two of us have breakfast.  Annezi is looking for a job these days but she is free this morning she tells me so she offers to take me in her car to show me around.

We come to the old port in the old city of Limassol, park the car and walk for a while. There is no time to get in the castle though, because my Aunt is expecting me for lunch so we just enter the garden for some pictures.

In the meantime we try to find a way to get to the pier of the old port near the sailing boats but people are working out here and there is much noise so I suggest that we get back to the car and do some sight seeing. So, Anezi is soon driving us along the coastal Larnaca-Limassol road heading for the Amathounta Archaeological site.

For miles there are so many hotels and apartments on either side of the road, pubs and restaurants, much traffic, but still I have to admit the roads are wide and very clean. I cannot say that there are many tourists this time of season, but it is the season I personally enjoy traveling. To every hotel or restaurant I go the service is excellent and I can enjoy my food with greater ease and attention.   I hate crowds and for people like me, ….I mean people who love peace and quiet this season is ideal.

Anezi shows me some distinctive buildings and explains what each one is, and when we come to the archaeological site of Amathounta we park the car for some photos.  It is a beautiful morning although a bit windy. We cross the road and come to the coast. When I see the coastal path-way and I find people walking and others exercising I promise myself that I will very soon be back. I will book a hotel in the round area just to have the chance to walk out here.  Anezi tells me that this path goes for miles. Thankfully March is not far away……here I come!

My relatives are expecting me for lunch and I am relieved because we don’t have to drive far from Anezi’s house, as they live in the same district. Anezi drops me off outside my Aunt’s house and she leaves. She is going to Paphos this afternoon with some friends so we shall see each other again in the evening.

Lunch is great and later on in the afternoon we have some coffee and with the great company of my relatives…. time flies!  I cannot believe that it is already 6pm.

Another great day for me, and I believe the whole idea of spending some time with my dear friends and my Aunt and Uncle was worth it.
