After the tour in the village, we start our today's excursion a bit late, and my two beloved cousins want to take me to the dam of Evretou. It is the third largest dam on the island in an altitude of 165 m and about 30 minutes drive from Polis.

We come to a nice restaurant whose owners are friends with my cousin.   From out here the view is panoramic.  The abandoned little village opposite the dam used to be the old village of Evretou but now they have been asked to move somewhere else.

The owners of the 'Sa-Buneri’ restaurant are two loveable people. Their restaurant reputes for its Cypriot cuisine. It is a little before the village of Simou.

As we enter we notice that the table opposite the fireplace is already occupied by a group of friends.  The owner waits until we find a seat and offers to light the wood fire stove which is next to us.  This unfortunately turns out to be a disaster because the smoke instead of getting out returns in the room. He is trying hard and the poor guy is very sorry for what is happening, but the pieces of wood are already burning in the stove so the whole room suddenly becomes so foggy and smelly that I cannot stand a moment in here. I insist that we move outside. I am bringing my cousins to a difficult position and I know it, but it is not something I can control.

I cannot stand breathing all this smoke…not counting the smell on my clothes, just to show that I am polite! I cannot pretend and I cannot be stuck under politeness if I don’t feel comfortable anywhere or under any other circumstances.  My cousins feel bad because they know the guys, seeing all this happening and me wanting to go out, but they don’t think it is a good idea to leave, so for some time I go out alone, and I return when I see that the smoke is much less. The windows are of course open, and I join them in this foggy atmosphere where I have my tea. Luckily we are here for a short time. The poor guy is struggling over the stove till the moment we leave!

His wife insists that we come later on for lunch but we tell her that we are on a tour and we shall do that another day!

When I was in the plane coming to Cyprus the guy next to me who told me he was from Paphos suggested that I should visit the village of Agii Anargyri.  Costa tells me that we are heading there now so I am excited.  Throughout the trip we pass through orchards full of tangerine trees.  Never in my life have I seen so many tangerine orchards, so we ask Costa to stop the car so that we can pick a couple of them.  He however insists that it is not right.  After much begging he makes a stop and we are able to cut a few.

We come to Agii Anargiri. There is a hotel next to the little church but it is not the kind of hotel I would want to stay at.  It is too noisy with crowds, -smoking seems to be allowed inside and I can only stand the whole atmosphere for a few minutes only.  I return to the car where I find Angelo, and then the phone rings.  Costa is looking for me he says but he cannot find me so Angelo tells him that I am already back in the car with her.

Our short trip in the countryside of Paphos is very pleasant with the company of my cousins, the clean country air and its beauty, the colors of nature, and the kindness of the people. We drive through orchards filled with fruit, and every time we come to a halt it is either the singing of birds, or the gurgling of a nearby stream that pleasantly comes to our ears.  It is so peaceful up here and I am enjoying every minute spent with my two loveable cousins.

Unfortunate that the 'smoke' incident happened spoiling the moment but Im sure those guys meant well. Otherwise, the place seems very nice.
