Local Agricultural Museum – Upper Room

As we approach the Local Agricultural Museum my friend Gabriel tells me that in the past this building belonged to his grandparents, Gabriel and Eleni Papachristoforou.

The heirs donated the building to the Antiquities Department who in their turn maintained it and converted it to the local Agricultural Museum of the village.

It has the typical style and architecture of the previous century. We enter the main door and we head inwards. It has an indoor enclosed stone yard. We pass the arch where on both sides there are beautiful plants and pots with flowers. It seems very simple now but back in those days it was a luxuriant house. The family was wealthy receiving income from their crops as they were land owners.

We first climb the stairs and get to the upper floor. We are found in the bedroom of the house. (See my photos of the inside décor). There is the iron bed, the woodcut closet, the sewing machine of those days, and Gabriel demonstrates the way the wooden tool helped his grandfather take off his boots.
