Booking a ticket to Cyprus and the Trick being done to Pay more! – Watch out!!!!

My flight is for 6:00 am so I have to be at the airport a couple of hours earlier.

I had every chance to leave much later with the same cost and this because I noticed that there were several empty seats the time I booked.

I pleasantly notice the newly introduced service which gives the opportunity to people who book their                                                economy seats change their tickets while in the past this was not possible.  I have booked so many times my e tickets and each time I am so careful as to the dates and time and double check everything before the final step.  I did the same with this ticket but the moment I got the tickets in my hands I realized that the time is not the one I asked.

I got furious, - not with myself, but with the company as I am sure they are doing this on purpose just to have people use the new service and pay this extra money of 25 euros in case somebody wants to change something.

Anyway, I got in touch with them, and threatened them that I would let people know on the different sites about this trick.  I decided just for this time not to change the ticket and have to pay more even if it was just 25 euros, but if this happens again I will spread the news on the different sites.

Since I don't want to rush I set the alarm clock much earlier to have time and enjoy my breakfast and my morning shower.  The taxi driver arrives exactly at the set time and gives me a ring telling me that he is waiting at the entrance.  I am dropped at Syntagma  (9 euro) and I gladly notice that the coach is full and we are to depart shortly.

I turn on my laptop checking my e mails, as I wait for the bus to drive off.  There is a first, a second, and a third attempt to start the engine, but alas!  The engine cannot start, so I quickly turn off the laptop realizing that soon we would be asked to step off and move to the other bus behind. I do not want to be the last to leave.

Five minutes later we drive off leaving behind the Square and the half broken coach.  It is still dark outside, but I feel fine because I had a good night’s sleep so I don’t mind being so early up at all.

The trip from Athens to Larnaca lasts approximately 80 minutes.

I asked to be given a seat in the front rows if possible, telling the girl that I don’t mind if I don’t have a seat next to a window, as long as I have the seat next to me empty.  She smiles and asks if row 6 suits me.  I thank her, take my boarding pass and pass through the gates.

I buy one or two things from the Duty Free Shops, and make my way towards the waiting lounge.

The plane takes off without any delay and we are soon flying over the Greek islands.  Breakfast is served while outside it is still dark. By the time it is finished I can see the beautiful reddish colour of dawn and the morning sunrise in a clear sky.

The person sitting next to the window says that he is from Paphos, and since I am also heading for Paphos the coming days, he shows interest and offers to help.  I ask him to point out places not to be missed and I tell him of the places I have already plan to visit.

We are above Larnaca and the Salt-lake and since he is sitting next to the window I hand him my digital camera and ask him to take some photos for me before landing.  It is winter now and it is the time when many flamingo visit the island and of course the salt lake. I wonder if I will be lucky enough to see some this morning!

We greet each other goodbye and he tells me that he will arrange that I meet the Mayor of Paphos. I thank him and we meet again at the luggage scales.  I want to try and have my luggage changed so I greet him goodbye and go to arrange everything.

By the time I finish almost all passengers have left.
