LARNACA IN NOVEMBER
My sister drives me home as I have decided to spend the rest of the days before I return to Greece at home with Mum, see friends and relatives.
I believe by now, everybody who reads my blogs knows exactly how much I love Larnaca
I am a person who loves walking a lot and when I am in Larnaca I go everywhere on foot. I hate buses, and taxis are quite expensive. Most of the times you will find me at the Palm Trees Promenade - (Phinikoudes ) just opposite the beach. I come here because I have an internet access for free. My favorite spots are either Hobos or the Starbucks café. I can work for hours without being bothered and without having to hurry.
It is a beautiful hot day today….really hot if we consider that it is November the 18th, it is just unbelievable! At the beach there are people sunbathing while others are swimming. The temperature is 27 degrees.
I am so glad that I am enjoying off season vacations
For many people the myth….of vacations are only during the summer months. But for people like me, who require peace, calmness or rest, this is the perfect season to come to Cyprus. Besides hotels are much cheaper now, and if you are a person who wants to discover the history, traditions and customs of the island you will surely find this season very interesting. I love coming into contact with natives who during this period have greater amounts of time to demonstrate their hospitality. It is not at all unusual during this off season vacations to gain new friendships and build a social network.
It is true that during the busy summer season restaurants and bars are also more expensive, while now one can enjoy his food with greater ease as the noise of too many people will not exist to a great extent. In addition to this, shop services are of a higher standard and food is usually of a higher quality.
Personally, I believe that the weather in Cyprus is very good from March until December. It may not be hot summer as expected, but at least the 20 or 22 degrees are more than enough for an excellent and enjoyable holiday, without excessive heat
I still laugh and at the same time I am angry with myself because I brought clothes that I cannot wear.
My Mum and friends were telling me of this beautiful weather, but instead I brought sweaters, boots and woolen dresses. How stupid of me! It is the first time that I packed things that I did not wear even once. The funniest of all is that I am giving advice on different forums what tourists should bring when traveling to Cyprus but I was so wrong on this trip. I also check the weather forecast for the whole week, but this time I just packed and left!!!!
PLACES OF INTEREST IN LARNACA
For people who will come to Larnaca besides the Palm Trees Promenade, they should visit the fort and the old quarters that give Larnaka its unique character. The nearby Salt Lake is a favourite stop-over spot for thousands of migrant birds in winter, whilst on its edge in a tranquil setting stands a popular Muslim Pilgrimage place. (The Hala Sultan Tekesi)
The whole district of Larnaka has something special to offer the visitor, including Choirokoitia, the oldest Neolithic settlement on the island, Stavrovouni Monastery and the famous Church of Angeloktisti.
Join the Larnaca Walks if you want to become acquainted with the Authentic character of the city.
