ALOE CLUB RESORT





I have read both good and bad comments.



I found the deal promising, but I was not sure as to what I would find upon arriving, and knowing that it was just a 2 star hotel. It is the first time I book at a 2 star hotel and was expecting the worse!



We got to the hotel by taxi, and here I want to point out to the hotel manager to do something concerning the huge sign of AVIS.

The taxi driver was looking for the hotel and the name of the hotel is written on the flag outside the hotel, and on the glass door at the entrance with very tiny small letters SITTING ROOM AND KITCHEN

. It gives the impression that somebody will find just the AVIS cars there. As the flag waves back and forth the name cannot be read.




It was 9.30pm when we got to the hotel and I just asked if we could  have some dinner, even a sandwich would do, as we were hungry. The restaurant closed at 9pm.

Twenty minutes later we had our dinner brought to us at the reception desk.  There were 2 plates for each.  Besides the dinner dish, the other plate had fruit and a bottle of water for each of us.  (Water on the island is not drinkable by the way)!



Impressions of the hotel and staff:- MIXED



The apartments are huge indeed with many amenities BEDROOM

. A small refrigerator, much bigger than a mini bar found in other hotels, a toaster, a microwave oven, a kitchen stove, a big table and a sofa  with a very comfortable  big bedroom and bathroom. A huge wardrobe for clothes and a saving box.


We are on an all inclusive basis, ourselves. We had a green ribbon round our wrist which was the sign of –all inclusive.  I could see people eating without a ribbon though!



I was curious to see the kind of quality the hotel would have, as well as the quantity.  I was surprised indeed!

It included everything for everyone's taste.

There was fish and meat, pizza, different fruit, desserts, ice cream,   -- anything a person could desire.



I will just mention that the coffee machine was not giving the best of quality of coffee, but it was ok THE APARTMENT

.  I have drank similar though in 5 star hotels.


I can tell that the red wine was not the best, but again you cannot expect so much from a 2 star hotel.  If I did not know about the stars I would think that it was 4 or 5.  I have a big experience in traveling and I stay in hotels almost every month, and I can assure future visitors of this hotel that they will have a pleasant stay here. I recommend to get either H/B or All inclusive. There is a mini market in the premises as well.



The hotel is not centrally located, but with just 3.10 euros we could call a taxi and be carried to the centre, however those who wish to walk the centre is just a 15 minute walk from the hotel.



The buildings are nice, and there are swimming pools for kids and adults who like to spend the day at the hotel’s premises.

We did not go to the swimming pools at all as we prefer the beach BATHROOM

. Nice palm trees in a nice garden surround the pools.  There are 3 big pools and one or two for children.




Although the hotel is not next to the beach, there is a local bus that comes to the hotel at 10 am to pick those who want to go to the beach.  It is completely free of charge, and the bus takes you one mile outside Corralejo to a nice beach, and brings you back at 13.00.



I was given a room next to the main building, and I had access to the internet.  This was very important for me.  However I had access only in the bedroom but it was fine.



Cleaning:

.  They work 5 days a week, but I saw the lady 3 times during my 6 night stay.  I asked for clean towels though even if the girl was not preparing the room and I was given what I needed with pleasure.




Here I will add something negative though.  We wanted to have the day trip that takes place round the Island.  The girl who was at the reception was not so helpful when I asked her if she could recommend another travel agency because the agency the hotel suggested was overbooked.  This happened the 2nd day, and so we were disappointed when she told us that the Island’s tour was taking place only on Tuesday and there was no other agency to take us around the island.

I even asked for a private tour and she said that she was sorry but it is only this agency that does the tour and not another found on the island.



I found out though that there are other agencies but she did not help us at all SITTING ROOM

We wanted to have this tour on Tuesday, or Wednesday.  It was already Wednesday afternoon when we found out about the round trip being done through other agencies.  I am very angry because when we found out it was already late to book as we had booked to go to Oasis Park instead.   We were told  that this other agency is not represented by the hotel and that was the reason the receptionist did not tell us.


But it was a pity because we leave the island without this nice trip.  I wanted so much to see the whole island. 



A FINAL COMMENT.                                              



We are flying with a late afternoon flight, and the hotel wants the keys at 10.  I asked to be given some more time, and I was informed that they would give us 2 more hours.  I really appreciated this.



Then we thought of having lunch at the hotel before leaving, but they said that we cannot OPPOSITE THE ENTRANCE -(DESERT)

.  I mentioned the fact that the first day we arrived late at night, and we did not have that day’s lunch.  The answer was NO.


Then out of curiosity – as I was already disappointed I asked if I could pay extra and I got a positive Yes, but lunch would cost us 12 euros each. 

We preferred to leave without lunch.  It is not actually the cost that is much, but I really think it was unfair.



Anyway, I would come back to this hotel if I ever was here again, and I would recommend it to my friends and members of TravelPod.
