September is an ideal month for holidays. The days are still long, warm and beautiful and I prefer travelling this time of year than the peak season when everyone else is out. Beaches are not crowded, no traffic congestion, kids are back to school and hotels and restaurants are more affordable. So, before the weather changes for good I thought to take you to an island this time. How about the beautiful little island of Aegina! Yes, this is where we are heading to this time.
I hope you have already packed ….don't take much –I don’t. Our embarkation will begin any minute….
We are in Athens 3 days before the trip –have to attend a christening of some friends’ child, promised to call and meet a friend and also have to see the optician
The Gulf and the islands.
Argosaronikos Gulf consists a cluster of beautiful small islands between Attica and north-eastern coasts of the Peloponnese. These are the islands of Agistri, Aegina, Poros, Salamina, Spetses, Hydra and the peninsula of Methana.
There is regular transport from Piraeus port, and hopefully this year we don’t have delays or strikes. I remember twice last year how I had my trip to Hydra postponed –and ever since did not find the chance to visit.
Ok, back to the trip we are about to take…..
No scrimmage around the ticket office, the fee is 9.50 euros pp and 27.50 for the car.
We are sailing with Apollon, (Hellenic Seaways)
