FLYING TO CHIANG MAI
It is the 14th of August and we are flying at 8.45 am.
Early breakfast, and we come to the airport.
I hate having to get up so early, but there is no other alternative.
We reach our hotel at about 10.30 am. The hotel is called Chiang Mai Plaza, and we are given a nice room at the back side of the hotel. The view is beautiful and I love looking out of the window
It is a rainy day, and we decided to relax and spend time in the room. I always carry chocolates and wine so there was no need to get out in the rain.
One or two from the group left immediately for the zoo, but they were disappointed because the animals were inside and they got wet. We were lucky.
We are told that there is a market near by, and we decide to go out and walk towards the market and get to know the place.
It's great here. Vendors, elephants crossing the street, exotic smell everywhere.
We returned to the hotel with a touk touk –their taxis. It was fun.
AN UMBRELLA FACTORY
Visiting an umbrella factory the next morning, is another interesting site
The same thing done the whole day long. Each person has a drawing which he knows well how to do it, and in this way the work finishes faster.
We have a day tour visiting a nice Temple on top of a hill and have to walk up many stairs.
A little tiring with all this humidity and hot weather but the view from the top is rewarding.
ELEPHANT SAFARI
We are having fun today. It is the best part of this trip I am sure. We feed the elephants, take an elephant ride in the jungle, see the elephants working, have lunch, go sailing with bamboo floating platforms.
We even have a 30 minute walk in the jungle and come to the village of LISU to see how these natives live.
On our way back we have a stop at a nice cataract where we step down and get some pictures.
This elephant safari will never be forgotten I am sure!

IN THE STREETS OF CHIANG MAI
. Here you see many women sitting on the ground. Each one is doing the same thing the whole day. For instance if we take an umbrella and we have to draw it, well, there is a woman drawing a butterfly, the other woman takes this same umbrella and draws a tree let’s say, the other draws the sun. The same thing done the whole day long. Each person has a drawing which he knows well how to do it, and in this way the work finishes faster.
