The dazzle of Mediterranean waters!
I unpack and sort everything, put my pair of sneakers on and I am out for a short stroll. The last time I was in Limassol I came on foot all the way from the city out here to exercise but I have never been further away from this point on. So, here I am today for an afternoon stroll in an area that I have never come before.
As you look at the photos I have taken I am sure you would say that the coasts of Ayia Napa and Protara are quite different to those of Limassol, -even the color is not the same. No more white sands or turquoise crystal waters eh?
If I had asked you to compare the two what two adjectives would you give me?
For instance I would say that I find the coasts of Ayia Napa and Protara unbeatable while those of Limassol just wonderful!
What would you say? How would you describe them?
I get to the coast but find nobody swimming even though most holiday-makers here come from northern countries (mostly Russians and Germans) and I would have imagined that for them it is easier to get in the water since they are accustomed to very low temperatures
The luxury estates and mansions on the back belong to well off Cypriot families and many Russians. It is weird how the majority of the population in Russia lives in poverty and Cyprus is suddenly full of these people purchasing land or mansions, stay in luxurious suites and spend lots of money on anything. Most of them have a dubious reputation as we all know and what I hate most is seeing my country selling out and just wonder what will happen in some years from now!! Nobody gets alert??
I spend the whole afternoon ambling around with different stops here and there, sit on the dry sand come to some rocks where a sudden wave wets my sneakers and feet and I take them off. I look in the ponds for small fish and crabs until I find a nice flat rock where I sit and watch the splashing of the waves on the shore for more than an hour. I know such picture might seem romantic to some of you and might think how lucky of me to be out here! Don't ask me if I make dreams because I am not. The situation in Greece is so bad (a chaos actually) and Greek citizens are trapped in this game. I cannot be optimistic anymore seeing what is happening in Greece and I feel despondent. No, I am not dreaming, I am just sitting on the rock watching the splashing …nothing else.
On my way back the sun is about to set so here I am on another spot sitting and watching the dazzle of the beautiful Mediterranean waters.
