The main aim of my trip to Protaras is to have photos from the beautiful coves, and coasts and it is one of the reasons I did not stay in just one hotel. I spent several weeks by the sandy beach of the Fig tree in the past and I am after something different this time. I am very fond of snorkeling in picturesque coves and I picked the Cavo Maris Hotel because of the beautiful cove next to it. Of course I did not have a snorkel with me this time, but I always feel more comfortable if it is not just sand and water.  It is magic and many times breathtaking when you dive. Memories from the past come to mind as I mention the word –snorkel and flippers, memories that take me back to my first dive with a snorkel. I hope you don't mind if I share this with you.

Besides his fishing nets my Dad was also fond of fishing with a harpoon gun. There was always fresh fish for us at home, so much to give to relatives and friends.  I always admired him and I was his loyal companion in whatever sport he was after. This could be fishing, walking, photography, traveling.  All these I got from my loving Dad. We were very close and I remember the very first time when he urged me to put on a snorkel as he wanted me he said to see what he sees. I was only 7 years old and scared at the beginning but curious at the same time.  I was more than amazed with the colors and beauty of the bottom of the sea. It was truly another world which I wanted to explore. I remember that I was telling him of upside-down mountain ranges and sea flowers….this was how I recounted this adventure of mine that time! From that very significant day on, I fell in love with the bottom of the sea. I was swimming next to him with my own snorkel and flippers watching him from above how he dived to catch fish.  He was scuba diving years later but I remained a gazer probably because it was an expensive hobby those days. Yes, I am sure this must have been the reason otherwise I could have learnt how to scuba dive also.

I always enjoy sharing memories from the past and I thank God I have had a very happy and interesting life. I feel lucky and I think of my life as "an Amazing and Joyful Trip". If I had the chance to live again I would probably find nothing to change. I would love to have the same people around me, the same relatives and friends and visit all these places I have been to. The only thing which was lacking those days was a digital camera!! This is the reason I don’t have entries with photos from my visits to distant and exotic destinations because we used to travel a lot back then. The cleverest thing we did was to travel to distant lands when we were younger, leaving Europe for later.

I have visited 36 countries so far, several times to same distant destinations just because we wanted to return again, besides the many trips in Europe. There were times when we had two or three such trips in a month!! Of course the good old days are over now as the country faces an economic problem, but I am always optimistic because Greeks are fighters. Of course it is not the people who are to blame but we pay for the mistakes of those who governed us. In moments of difficulty we know well how to defend and protect ourselves and our country. I hear people over the net referring to Greeks as lazybones or people who just know how to have fun.  How ignorant truly they are!!!

Anyway I trust that you will find the photos I have below interesting. They show the whole premises, and the picturesque cove. I would love to return and spend at least a week here next summer if I was given the chance. The link will take you to the review I had on TripAdvisor.
