Dinning out at 'Zorbas' seafood restaurant.

Mikrolimano is the second largest yacht marina and a very popular location in Piraeus famous for its seafood restaurants and tavernas. The restaurants in this area are not the cheapest though but the location is idyllic -probably this is what the restaurants take advantage of!!

We decide not to move the car and take a taxi instead. Parking is a problem in the area where we are staying anyway. It is a 5 minute drive from Passalimani to Mikrolimano, -both fantastic spots not to be missed.

The other alternative we have is to take the trolley but it was really cold and I did not want to spoil this beautiful outing. I wanted to go in comfort and without strain. People who might be reading this and want to come here from Passalimani should know that the trolley does not go down to the marina. They have to get off at Cavo Doro stop and go down on foot. The views are amazing and all this area under the hill of Kastella is full of numerous bars and cafeterias.

‘Zorbas’ is one of the restaurants we used to come years back when we lived in Athens so we decided to dine here instead of searching other restaurants that we did not know much about.

Microlimano is the Mecca of seafood lover’s paradise in Athens but let’s face it, Greek seafood is a match made in heaven.  Of course the secret is to find the best place to eat with relish and trust the restaurant that will not rip you off. The view is stunning ‘Ζorbas’ is literally right on the water. There are these big glass sliding doors and I am sure with daylight fish can be spotted in the water….just amazing!

Our table is indeed at the very edge and only a step from the water. The music is playing soft and so pleasing to the ears. The lights from Mikrolimano fall into the sea and the scenery is breathtaking.

Seafood here is really great and we ordered a variety of starters to begin with and much later we had some poached fillet sea bass, some Royal calamari and Risotto with cuttlefish. The restaurants in this area are not the cheapest and even farm fish cost a lot. We had one which we shared and I can say it was lovely. Farmed fish cost 55 euro a kilo just to give you the picture!

I am afraid my habits have changed lately so after a nice meal I always want to finish with some dessert. This is something I did not do before, however lately I don’t mind having some extra calories as long as what I have is good.  In our case here both desserts were irresistible so we shared. Mine was a Poached pear in red wine accompanied with some ice cream and Yianni had the Hot Chocolate soufflé. I can tell the hot chocolate souffle was the best we had so far.

Ok, the friends or anyone reading this can sit comfortably and see some pictures I have taken both the night we came to the restaurant and also the next day in daylight. See the port with the yachts and the round area and of course all this beauty is just minutes from Athens!!!
