Pupishevo Gardening Community

My friends have a small country house in Pupishevo, - a Gardening community not very far from Stara Ladoga.  It is about a 20 minute drive backwards from Ladoga and on the way we make a couple of stops for some minutes to buy different local products from people selling their goods on the side of the road.

I just get out of the car to take some photos of the fish, but when my friends come out again to buy some potatoes and a jug of cabbage salad I decide to stay in the car and take my photo from there.

We reach the country house and Katerina's Mum greets us happily.  Mrs. Irene is a very elegant woman, very open hearted person. She was a science researcher teaching at a University in St. Petersburg. Her delicate wit makes me admire her.

It is a beautiful place but I am sure it is more beautiful during summer when other people are around.  Now that summer is over, there are only 3 neighbours

left in the whole community.  Mrs. Irene came here because I was given her bedroom in reality.  We are here to take her back home today, and she is going to sleep with her granddaughters for 2 nights.

She has a beautiful garden, and she shows me how she protects the plants from the coming snow.  She covers them with leaves. I am happy that she can speak English.

We get in the house where it is warm but I need a few minutes to really feel comfortable and warm.  We have brought our lunch along, and Mrs. Irene has baked an apple pie for us, from apples from her garden. I can’t wait to taste it because I really love apple pies.

After lunch, we have coffee and I have two pieces of apple pie which I find very tasty.  Kate washes the dishes and her Mum packs her things.  Although she is not coming back to this house till summer again she just has very few things.

We are soon driving back….and guess what! It starts snowing half way back home. For me all this atmosphere the countryside and now the snow, reminds me Christmas. What a wonderful day this is!!!!

Another wonderful and interesting day comes to its end, and there is still one more day for me here in St. Petersburg before I fly back to Greece.
