My visit to the Forest Village of Papades in Evia

This place cannot be described in words believe me.

The Forest Village of Papades is an ideal destination the whole year round, and I strongly believe that it upgrades the island of Evia.

The wooden houses are spacious and comfortable and they are so cosy that many might prefer to remain indoors!

I am not used to dedicating a whole page on my blog on a lodge but this is an exception.

I am thrilled here! We are staying for 3 days…..but I wish I had time to stay more. Unfortunately we are leaving again in two days for another destination.

Its rare natural beauty and position is such that a visitor coming here can enjoy both the sea and the mountains.  The moment you step off the car you can smell the difference in the air.

From the house we stay I can see and hear the first reactions of people coming to the village for the first time. During these 3 days I heard several people describing the Forest village saying that it reminds them of Switzerland, and others who got so excited that were talking loudly saying that they are surely coming here again in winter before even having a look around.

The Forest Village is uniquely organized and fenced in 20 acres of forest. The many activities one can find here makes it unique in its kind.

An earthly paradise for both children and parents, naturalists and elder ones. Its huge indoor playground with many games and activities under the supervision of experienced staff will keep the children busy with the activities and games offered.

Children here have the chance to experience farm life. There are goats and sheep on the farm, hens and partridges, pheasants, donkeys, turkeys and so many other animals. They learn to love not only animals but the forest as well. Donkey rides in the morning and afternoon are one of the children's favourite activities.

The milking of goats, picking of eggs in the morning is also something that excites children and makes the stay an educational as well. Horse-riding is another popular activity here.

Unique tournaments of volleyball, basketball, and backgammon are some of the activities played during the week. I even had the chance to learn how to make soap, and in the play room I saw shelves with colourful candles of all shapes, jams, hand-made crafts, home-made desserts and much more which are all made here.

The staff, -especially the waiters are well experienced and this shows.  The two ladies, Sophia and Maria are the ones who choose the best quality products they are using, and indeed they will surprise you with their local recipes.

Now, I left for the very end the man who runs this business Mr. Dimitri Poulopoulos who is the heart and creator of all this.

He dedicates endless hours -in fact he lives here! He is humble and runs this business with passion and love and it shows.

He is the one who leads the guests to the houses, and I had the chance not only to hear but also see this close touch he has with people coming here.

Nobody wants to return home believe me!   In fact I have talked with several guests during my long walks in the Forest Village and what I heard were only good words. There was nothing negative out of 15 people I talked to.

I really want to come to the village during winter time and hope I find the time to do so.

It is indeed a place to remember.  In other words, - an earthly paradise!
