(Some facts about Kymi)
Kymi is an ancient harbour city on the eastern coast of Evia .
The modern town on the same location has a population of about 8.500 people.
It is situated 91 km away from Chalkida and it is built amphitheatrically on a hill covered in trees, at an altitude of 250m. The view is so majestic that many people refer to Kymi as the "The Balcony of the Aegean"
We are staying at Kymi Palace Hotelhttp://www.kymipalace.gr/ )
It is a new hotel built amphitheatrically on the hillside, overlooking the port of Kymi.
It is really beautiful and I have a very nice view of the port from my room.
On clear days the island of SKYROS can easily be seen from Kymi.
Kymi's port connects Evia to the island of Skyros, Limnos, Volos and Kavala.
I am planning to visit the island of Skyros soon, even if I have already been here three times in the past. It is a real Greek island with the white houses on the hill, with many customs and traditions.
Yianni is not with me ……at least not now. I have driven here in my own car and he is joining me later on in the afternoon
I come to the hotel at about 11 a.m. and get to the reception where I meet the owners Mr. and Mrs. Spanos. I am given the key and shown to my room.
I am really anxious to see the view from my window which I believe would be nice as the location of the hotel overlooks down the port.
Yes….I have a nice view, but then I thought that most of the time I will be out.
Who cares if the view is nice or not! The hotel premises is huge, and it is new and beautiful, but I decide to see more of it in the afternoon. My room is spacious with an exquisite style and design, very comfortable, and I am impressed by the white colour of the sheets and towels. This is something that I always demand from a hotel.
I look at the time and decide to leave immediately and go out for some sightseeing.
I have come to Kymi many times but it is really very different when you come to take photos and write about the place
My first concern is to find a nice restaurant where Yianni and me will dine tonight.
I leave the hotel and drive towards the port.
I park the car and start walking and taking photos. What attracts my attention is a big dry octopus hanging outside a restaurant. The owner sees me and asks if I want him to take a photo of me standing next to the octopus. I tell him that in the evening I am planning to visit him for some ouzo and "pikilia". The word pikilia in Greek means a variety, so when you have OUZO you are brought a variety of sea-food like shrimps, shells, mussels, fish, etc.
My next stop is at the port where I want to check the days the ferry leaves for the islands, and the cost.
For members who follow my pages, and those of you interested, I am giving the cost and the days the ferries leave from Kymi for the different islands.
Timetable and cost for the islands of SKYROS, ALONISOS, and SKOPELOS.
So, there is a daily ferry that leaves Kymi for Skyros and the cost is 9.20 euros.
For SKOPELOS the cost is 25.20 euros, and for ALONISOS 23.20 euros.
If you have a car Alonisos will cost you 55.90 euros,
Skopelos costs 61 euros, and 27.90 for the island of Skyros.

I get my information and I drive towards the beach. I ask a lady the name of this specific beach (see photos) and she tells me that it is called Soutsini.
A funny name for a beach…..I have to admit !
