It was about 7.30 when we reached Edinburgh.....
I had read so many nice reviews about Edinburgh so in my mind I had a picture of a fairy place. Old buildings, misty climate, an atmosphere of mystery......

Taking a drive from the airport to the Hotel .....and I could not believe my eyes. More than my expectations!!! All those nice buildings both on the hill and at the banks were all so beautifully lit that Magic was in the air, everywhere.
I was anxious to see now the hotel. I had booked at
The Royal Terrace Hotel, and from it we had a nice view.
The Hotel was ok, but compared to what we paid we were not given an upper room, and although clean, the rooms were very small. .....That was a kind of disappointment for me I can admit.

I was anxious to get up the next morning and start discovering the place. For a start we decided to follow the young people who are willing to give the tourist a walking tour and they get paid after the stroll is over. We tried that....but they were telling everything in such detail that 45 minutes later we were found in the same place where we started. We were tired and wanted to leave and take the Majestic Tour as it was called...the double decked bus. We had tickets for 2 days.

We saw everything without getting off at first, but then decided to go for a second time after lunch. To our surprise we realized that the first time the tour did not take us to the Port because of Road Works, so we were lucky to see it now. We stepped off and had a stroll there. It was so nice that we decided to spend the whole of Sunday there. We had a walk in the beautiful Botanical gardens as well, and then spent the rest of the day in the Old city which is great!

The New Town started in 1767 to ease overcrowding in the
Old Town and there are some of the finest architecture in Europe there by James Craig, with the simple Georgian design.
The Scottish Parliament, which is a striking addition to the Old Town skyline, ....a stunning building set among beautiful public gardens. The Royal Yacht shows visitors what life was like for the Royal Family on board the ship. One can see the queen's bedroom, and Duke's sitting room to the State Drawing Room and gleaming engine room.

Some locals were scattered here and there with their kilts playing bagpipes.
We did some shopping, bought some nice Buttered biscuits, and later on in the afternoon returned to the hotel for a hot cup of Tea. (I love to have a tray in the room waiting for me with a cup of coffee or Tea and biscuits) I usually look for hotels that this facility is included. If however they don't, I carry with me my mini teapot!!! No problem!

We had dinner at a nice restaurant and chose to have a buffet this time. We were really hungry and also wanted to drink some nice cold wine so we ordered a bottle of Red Wine. Outside it was cold but inside the restaurant very warm. We could not see anything outside from the windows. The windows were damp.

We spent the last day at the Port where the Royal Yacht "Britannia" is found. We did some shopping, and had lunch at a nice Chinese restaurant in the Shopping complex next to the Royal Yacht.

The trip is coming to an end.....but as always we leave with the best impressions and many memories to have to take back to Greece with us.

Till the next trip....work a bit, and take another break.
Where to this time? I will know soon.
