After riding on a ferry that was actually more like a cruise ship for 15 1/2 hours and taking the worst and most untimely train yet we arrived in Athens, Greece. The Acropolis is visible even from the narrow streets around our hostel. We only stayed in Athens for one night, but got to see most all of the ancient ruins in one day. The gyros were very good, even better than trojan horse and the greek salads were also excellent. The acropolis was quite a sight to see and we spent a fair amount of time walking around the parthenon and other ruins atop of the huge hill overlooking the sprawling city of Athens. After Athens we took a night bus to the island of Corfu, which is on the western side of Greece. It is a very beautiful island with lots of stuff to do including snorkeling, atv rentals, kayak rentals, booze cruise, etc. I rented a kayak for a day and spent the better half of the afternoon paddling around in the Ionian Sea going from one rock outcrop to the next!
