We arrived in Florence around noon and found our hostel very easily. After unloading our packs we went in search of food and our friends from home. We found both. IU has a summer program and about 40 students live in a top floor hotel that is rented out by the university. Megan kendall and John Flynn are two of my very good friends from IU and Megan is actually from my home town of Washington and more like a sister to me for those of you who don't know megan and Flynn. Florence is a beautiful city with many great works of art. Michaelangelo's David is housed here and we went to see it before anything else. It is a great work of art and actually much larger than I had expected. We also saw more Michaelangelo's, a lot of DaVinci's, Botticelli, Caravaggio, and others in the Meddici palace and Uffizzi museum. I had a great time experiencing the city with some of my fellow hoosiers and have to say that Florence is a very fun city. Our next stop is Rome!!
