Did a lot of walking around today. First thing, I went to the train station east of town and booked a ticket to Phitsanulok for Wednesday morning. Used a tuktuk to return to the town center. My driver was so skeletal he looked like he hadn't eaten in months. After leaving some important papers in my guesthouse, I walked west out of town where I never could find the Museum of World Insects. Though bugs give me the creeps, I was interested in learning about the 44 different types of mosquitos in Thailand. I did find a nice cool shopping mall to waste a few hours in. I love air conditioning!
My best find of the day was a cheesy bar not far from my guesthouse. It's called the Chaing Mai Saloon, and is decorated just as any saloon or country bar in the US. I enjoyed a cold beer (Chang), listened to American top 40 music, ate a delicious grilled cheese sandwich with french fries, and felt more comfortable than I have in days.
My early dinner and beer revived me enough to brave walking around the famous Chiang Mai Night Bazaar. Though I didn't stay for long, I experienced more than enough. It's absolutely huge; a shopping mecca encompassing many city blocks. It's a good thing I'm not much of a shopper! I settled for a diet coke and a yummy chocolate crepe.
