I've safely made it to the Marriott Resort and Spa. The airport experience went smoothly as did the taxi ride even though my driver didn't speak a word of english. I don't find Bangkok to be smoggy or terribly trafficy, but then again, I haven't seen a whole lot of it!
This is a gorgeous hotel but definitely not a place to meet other solo travelers. There are mostly couples here, older with money it seems. The three wings of the hotel surround a central garden and pool complex...it's like paradise. Banana trees and huge palms are everywhere...as are geckos! So cute. For dinner I went to Trader Vic's, as planned. It was rather dissappointing. I had a watery Samoan Fogcutter and a Kama'aina along with Cosmo's tidbits - which were tasty, though smaller than normal.
Tomorrow I get to venture out into the unknown and away from this tourist's heaven! More thumbnails ...
