All great stories start at home and this 'once upon a time' is no different. Usually the far-away land is plain and drab (check) and most of the other characters are suffering from soul-suicide of some kind (double-check). Regrettably, though, I am no heroine, hence the unshaved chin. And this is no fairy tale, hence my desire for a Mocha Latte...But it sure feels like it. The butterflies in my stomach agree. And I am glad you're here to tell me whether or not this is real.


I come from a place where the name was supposed to be Latin for 'truth' but a user error caused a misspelling on the original document. The name has been spoken wrong ever since. This irony should tell you all you need to know about the Wonka-esque land that I am from.


Simply put, people where I am from just Don't Do this. They do not get the fortunate opportunity to travel around the world for 4 months, visit 10 different countries, study the 1 thing they like the most, with 600 other students, take 8 vaccinations, hold 20,000 won, pack their life into 3 pieces of luggage and take a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
