After leaving Nazareth, we drove a short distance to the excavated ruins of Caperneum (check spelling) on the shores of the Sea of Gallilee. A Benedictine Monastery is located here along with the ruins of what is traditionally considered Peter's house. There is also an interesting 8 sided church which is part of this complex. I especially enjoyed the well-kept gardens of this site. I noticed displays of the visits of two Popes to this site, John Paul's being the most recent.
