By Kendall & Gran:
Today we left Stratford and got on the road to York. Almost immediately after we left Stratford, we stopped at various sites in the Cottswalds. The cottages with thatched roofs are cunning.. We stopped at St. Peter & Paul's church to take a picture of the only Lynch gate existing in England. Along the way we stopped in the town of Wedgewood, at the Wedgewood China Factory. The tour there was very interesting. For one, we didn't know that much of the china was hand painted. We also didn't know that the ladies who worked in the factory wore pretty nice clothes under their aprons. They must have good laundry systems. We also got to see where the Wedgewood family and their workers lived. Lovely grounds and recreational facilities for the workers and their families. They are greatly valued by the Wedgewood family. When we were done at the China factory, we hopped back on the bus and traveled to York. There we saw the absoloutely humongous York Minster Cathedral, and the Shambels Street, which is the street where all the shops were during Roman days. There are still shops there today. They even had a Poundland! York was a fascinating city, and we greatly enjoyed being there.
