Today we headed of early to Palm beach which is where Home and Away is filmed. Not because it is where Home and Away is filmed, but because it was recommended by Wendy, the owner of the house we are staying in. It's about 25km from the house, so we set off early, to get a good day at the beach. One the way however, we came across a Baha'i Temple, so pulled over for a quick look. Apparently the religion is an independent religion, with followers worldwide, not that interesting, but got some good photos.
Back on the road to Palm beach, and we were there by 11am. The beach was just beautiful, probably about 11/2 mile long, with amazing houses all around. Most of the houses are on stilts because the hills rise steeply all around. from what we are told, the houses are owned by the rich and famous, and according to Mary, Tom Cruise owns one, don't know which one though. The houses were fantastic, build in to the hill side, and costing millions. This beach, unlike most of the beaches we have visited so far, seemed more like a locals and native Australians beach more than a tourists beach. There were no shops at all along the side of the beach, but luckily a couple of vans selling smoothies and stuff.
From the moment we got there the sun was at full pelt, and it was roasting, so we didn't do much other that sun bath, swim and play with wee Summer. Our parking ticket ran out at 3, so we had decided to move on after that, so at about 20 mins too, Gordon and myself decided it was time for our run of the beach. It seemed like a good idea at the time, and off we set, for a jog the length of the beach and back, shirts off, sunglasses on. In hind sight, we must have looked pretty mental, two scots guys, red with the sun already, running the beach in 100 degrees. After our run we got together and drove up the hills for a look at the houses where the posh people live. We then stopped at a wee cafe place for tea and a roll and were told where the cafe for Home Nad Away was, but didn't bother going because we just had to get out of the sun by then.
