Today is our first sea day. I slept great last night and was up before 7:00 am.  Mom was up so we headed out to deck 6 to do a mile.  Four laps around the deck is 1 mile.  It was quite windy and with the resistance walking we managed to do 2 laps and headed to the Lido for some water and juice.  After breakfast we had a cooking class, lobster salad and crème brulee from the Le Cirque menu.  After lunch we headed for another deposit session at the casino.

It was a nice lazy day.  We spent the afternoon reading (which means mom napped) and then played some Sequence and Cribbage.

Tonight was formal night so we all got spiffed up and headed for our 8:00 dinner.  It was really good and the best part is the chocolate soufflé they have for dessert on formal night.  Last night it came with a dark chocolate sauce rather than the orange liquor.  It was heavenly.

The show was great.  We have the same tenor singer as we did on the Voyage of the Viking trip last summer.   So we know the shows will be good.  We played a bit more on the slots and them headed to bed.  Tomorrow is another sea day, then we have six straight days in port until our next sea day.

St. Maarten

This was a hot sunny day in St. Maarten.  This is the smallest land mass to be governed by two nations.  We docked on the Dutch side which is the smaller side.  The French side is the larger of this 36 mile island.   There are no border gates and each side has beautiful blue lagoons and beaches.

This morning we got up to see the RCI ship Allure of the seas right across from us.  Mom thought that we pulled up next to an office building.  We had breakfast in the Lido and then headed off of the ship.  There were 3 ships in port.  They had a nice shuttle that ran us from the ship to the port area where the shops were.

From here, we hopped on the water taxi rather than walking or taking a cab.  It worked out great -  $6.00 round trip.  They put a band on your arm and you could ride all day.

The beach was beautiful there.  For $20.00 you got two chairs in the sand, an umbrella and a bucket of beers.  It was really hot so we passed.  We walked along the boardwalk and stopped for $1.00 beers and water.  Next we wandered on into town and did more window shopping.  Lots of high end duty free stores here for jewelry, purses, and clothes.  Bought one souvenir and that was it.  We did find a great bench on the busiest street in town and people watched for a bit before heading back.  It was a great day.

After lunch, mom and I went back to port area and used the internet to check email and update the blog.  We walked from the ship to the port area.  The photographers from the Allure were by the rocks behind the ship and were stopping everyone to get their pics made with the ship in the background.  They did not bother to ask what ship you were on.  So being good tourists, mom and I had one together and then one each.  We even got to pose and give it our best vogue shot.  Needless to say since we will never see these pics we hammed it up.

Once back on our ship, we headed out to the promenade deck to find some lounge chairs, nap a bit and then watch the Allure sail away.  It was amazing watching 6,000 people come back to a ship.  The lines were worse than Disney.  They finally all made it on and sailed away.  It was pretty to watch her leave.  We were out of there about 40 minutes later.

No show tonight, well actually there is one but I don't want to sit through a classical piano act so we will have to find something else.  Barry from Boston at the Piano bar has the blues tonight so we may go sing with him.
