Just some photos from my scuba trip to Taganga before the holidays. It was my second trip to Taganga, and although it's a nice wee fishing village, apart from scuba centers and restaurants, there isn't a heck of a lot to do. Great place to meet other back packers though, as everyone seems to stop off here at some point, whether it be on the way to the Lost City, the national park or Venezuela. There's some really nice diving off this coastline, and since I haven't been scuba diving for years I was eager to get back in the water. Day 1 was a bit of a refresher session in the pool since I hadn't done it in a while and wasn't technically qualified before heading out on the boat. We saw some great marine life, including some seahorses - big ones as well, not like the weeny ones you see in the zoo! They were sleeping and had their tails curled around some anemones so they wouldn't get swept away in the current. They really are beautiful creatures. But day 2 was definitely the best, with a lot more marine life on show. We saw more seahorses, octopus, squid, big shoals of all different kinds of fish and even a puffer fish. The instructor poked it to make it blow up (just like the one on Finding Nemo) and I got to try and hold it...feels just like a hedgehog, except with pouty lips and silly little small fins!!This is the chapest part of the Caribbean to get qualified in, so hopefully I'll be able to come back a little later in the year to get the PADI certificate - basically your divers licence, which will mean I'll be able to do more challenging dives in other parts of the world. Now all I need is an underwater camera!
