Yesterday we spent the better part of our last forecasted warm day on the beach. Marty is reading (drum roll please) a BOOK!! Yes he is an avid reader but mostly of the magazine persuasion. He is now reading the book of one of our all time favorite movies High Fidelity and making mental comparative notes and comments. This is the first book he has read since we have met...Im not kidding.
Yesterday we also did a bit of site seeing. We walked around the Eixample neighborhood to see the Gaudi Buildings. This is a good example of the flamboyant style that I have come to realize is an ingrained part of this city's culture. The style of clothing, the buildings, the furniture, everything is a littlemore exotic and colorful. Especially in stark contrast to where I have been living in Germany for the past year!
I can say we have ate like Kings here. The fish is delicious and absolutely fresh and reasonably priced. Today we went to the big market plaza at Boqueria and had some delicious fresh juice and the fruits are so flavorful its like they grow them in the back. It makes me miss summer in California! However we did have the most disgusting empeņadas. After one bite we threw both out. Like biting into pure oil.
So Marty did some record shopping today and I found all the expensive thrift stores. They had some nice things but who wants to pay 35€ for something someone wore 20 years ago with a stain on it? They wouldnīt even let me talk them down. Boo Hiss. I am jaded after the thrift stores in Berlin!
So we are off to another club tonight..more to come
